Favorite Line: “Fascinating. You look all frail and breakable, but you’re really a violent little thing, aren’t you?”

Let me just start by saying that I’m typically not much of a fantasy reader. I try, but the book really has to pull me in for me to want to stick with it for the hundreds of pages, since I rarely see a short fantasy book. But what Rebecca Yarros has done, the intricacies of her characters and plots, I devoured this book in under a day.
And I cannot wait until the series is finished (though I’m not wanting it to end), because I need to know what happens next and how it all wraps up.
The story follows Violet, who trained her entire life to join the scribe quadrant of a college, but her mother forced her to join the riders quadrant. Where, you guessed it, there are dragons! Sure, they’ll turn you crispy if you so much as annoy them, but…dragons! So, Violet, being part of the riders quadrant, has to constantly fight for her life. From challenges, classmates, and the man wants her dead before all others, Xaden. There are twists, turns, magic, and a few tidbits that you’ll realize later on had a deeper meaning. This book will also leave you wanting to have your own grumpy dragon (I’m looking at you Tairn). Violet’s strength, instincts, intelligence, she’s absolutely inspiring. This is one fantasy, that though it’s detailed, is also riveting and keeps your attention throughout.
